🎙 ABOUT THE DR. SOWMYA VISWANATHAN
Dr. Sowmya Viswanathan, MD, MHCM, MBA, FACP, is the chief physician executive for BayCare Health System and president of BayCare Medical Group. BayCare is one of the nation’s top-performing academic health systems, serving West Central Florida through 16 hospitals, 400+ care centers, and a network of over 6,000 physicians. Dr. Viswanathan oversees enterprise-wide clinical operations, strategy, and innovation, driving high-quality, value-based care across hospitals, ambulatory services, graduate medical education, research and digital health.

An internal medicine physician with over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Viswanathan has held leadership roles at major health systems including Dartmouth Hitchcock, UMass, and Tenet Health, and has taught at Harvard School of Public Health. She earned her MHCM from Harvard and is a nationally recognized speaker and mentor for emerging physician leaders. In 2025, Becker’s Hospital Review named her a “CMO to Know.”
