Dr. Robert Pearl, former CEO of The Permanente Medical Group (Kaiser Permanente), led a team of 12,000 physicians and 43,000 staff, overseeing healthcare for over 5 million members. Recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s influential leaders, Dr. Pearl advocates for integrated, prepaid, and technologically advanced healthcare. He holds positions at Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Graduate School of Business, teaching strategy, leadership, and healthcare policy. Dr. Pearl authored bestsellers like "Mistreated" and "Uncaring," and his forthcoming book explores AI's role in healthcare.

A prominent figure, Dr. Pearl hosts podcasts, writes newsletters, and contributes to Forbes. He's appeared on major media outlets and spoken at healthcare conferences worldwide. Board-certified in plastic surgery, he earned his medical degree from Yale and completed residency at Stanford. Dr. Pearl chaired the Council of Accountable Physician Practices and contributed to healthcare reform efforts in Washington, D.C.

About John Marchica, Host of Health Care Rounds

John Marchica is a veteran healthcare strategist and CEO of Darwin Research Group, a strategic consulting and market intelligence firm focused on hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and the evolving healthcare ecosystem. John has a degree in economics from Knox College, an MBA and M.A. in public policy from the University of Chicago, and completed his Ph.D. coursework at The Dartmouth Institute. He is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is pursuing certification as a Fellow.
